NTM data in relation to manipulated NOx emission values
Recent news (October 2015) on emission control failures of diesel cars in the US and EU, have raised concerns on the representativeness of in particular NOX emission factors for diesel light duty vehicles (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles) applied in commonly used emission models of widespread use in Europe, e.g. HBEFA and COPERT. HBEFA is the source to all road vehicle emission factors applied in NTMCalc.
In light of this, the ERMES group, comprising lead independent institutes in the EU responsible for the development of road vehicle emission factors in these models, has recently published an information paper on diesel light duty vehicle NOX emission factors. The information is relevant primarily for NTM members using NTMCalc for NOX emissions calculations from Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel passenger cars (NTMCalc Travel) or light commercial vehicles (NTMCalc Freight).
