John Landborn, the first Chairman of NTM have passed away
It is with deep grief we recently received the sad message that John Landborn, after a period of decease passed away the 9th of February. We were many; family, friends and former colleagues that took farewell in a ceremony the 17th of March at Elfviks gård. For all participants John had a huge and significant influence of our private and professional life. For me, John, through his own actions guided me how a curious and friendly manner can take you forward in the business environment in spite of an often-tough competition.
In the beginning of the 1990s´it was clear that estimations and assessments of environmental and climate impact from transport was insufficient and led to several conflicts between various stakeholders. In order to somehow resolve this unsatisfactory situation, I contacted Åsa Lindell at Bilspedition in Gotheburg, our main competitor in the summer of 1993. We decided to invite all parties involved including all modes of traffic trying to unite towards common practices for assessing environmental and climate impact from transport activities. The meeting was successful where the present Minister of Communication, Mats Odell was the key note speaker. As a consequence, we formed ”The Network for goods transport and Environment (today renamed “Network for Transport Measures”) the 23rd of November 1993 where John Landborn became the first Chairman. John with his long transport experience and neutral research-based position at TFK was a natural choice and he remained in this position to 2005.
