Rail transport trailblazers
22 April, 2015
Electric rail transport has low emissions of greenhouse gases if the production of electric power has low emissions of greenhouse gases. The railway also has high energy efficiency thanks to low rolling resistance and relatively large load capacity. The challenges of the railroad are that many consider its reliability insufficient and not flexible enough. This is also linked to deficiencies in the infrastructure and that some critical parts of the track suffer from capacity problems that cause delays.
