In the autumn member meeting, we focus on scenario analysis as a supporting tool for strategy development towards GHG-emission free transportation.

Historically NTM and NTMCalc has mainly been used for calculating emissions and energy use for carried out transport operations. To look into the future, including potential new solutions have been considered difficult and more uncertain. Still, we know that shippers and carriers, requests more long-term forecasts. Including requirements and possibilities in order to reach climate targets. In this member meeting we want to highlight the possibilities and drawbacks in using scenario analysis to support and evaluate the transition progress.

The seminar ends with a discussion regarding opportunities and risks with scenario analysis. Thereafter we end the meeting by discussing data quality and its connection to scenario analysis. The aim is to continue this discussion at the coming annual member meeting the comming spring as the main topic.

In-setting – a pathway towards climate transition of transport?

At present we see an increasing need for actions within transport services in order to fulfil international agreements of reduced emissions of greenhouse gases. The challenges are substantial and require innovative solutions linked to shipper´s business revolving around physical products in manufacturing and trading, i.e. transportation. A concept used by an increasing number of shippers in order to increase the share of biofuels in their transport system is in-setting. The seminar aims to describe the meaning of the concept and highlight potential business and climate risks involved. Through lecturers with insights this seminar will hopefully add a better understanding of the concept.

NTM Räknestuga – Fossil and renewable fuels calculations

Practical emission calculation training session for members via Teams February 19, 09.00-10.00 am

 

On October 30, we introduced NTM Räknestuga as an open forum for all members where we look into the best way to assess environmental and climate impact for various situations. The initial occasion, tackled the issue of general freight transport emission factors, which thus includes allocation and transport distance. At this meeting the theme will be estimations on how to include various fossil and renewable fuels. The aim is to highlight different aspects of different energy carriers. The seminar will be held in English if non-speaking Swedish members register.
